Plot summary
Anna and Beth, both actresses, leave Los Angeles for a weekend in Big Sur. Beth's career is finally paying off: she appears in thrillers and in beer commercials that call for nudity, while Anna works for free on student films. A fan recognizes Beth on the road, and Anna learns a magazine has put Beth in its Young Hollywood issue. Anna says she split from her boyfriend after shoving his boss. At a bar, Anna flirts with an older man; his interest fades once Beth leaves, and he asks Beth out instead. Anna sees this and cries in bed. The next day the two run lines for an audition, and Anna is plainly the stronger actress.
