Plot summary
Novelist Colin May buys a house in the Hollywood Hills in 2002. A 1960s bomb shelter stands in the garden. The book he is writing draws on the disappearance of his father, a famous artist, and Colin battles depression and anxiety. Weeks after moving in, he hears voices and sees images, and a deep call reaches him from somewhere on the property. His nephew Cody, who came to live with him at twelve after his sister's suicide, and Celeste Sawyer, his friend and agent of over twenty years, try to help, as does his ex-husband Jackson.
