Plot summary
Travelling through rural Ireland, Anna and her boyfriend Aleks hunt down obscure Irish folk songs, record them without the singers' knowledge and sell the tapes to collectors. A tip about an undocumented ballad, said to be a thousand years old and handed from mother to daughter, leads them to Rita Concannon, who is said to know it. The song is in Old Irish and tells of a king betrayed by the woman he loves, who curses her, her lover and their descendants. Anna, a failed folk singer, and Aleks record Rita's recital, and sinister supernatural forces turn on the pair.

- A potential backer dismissed Paul Duane's script for All You Need Is Death as "weird and confusing", a phrase the writer-director later had tattooed on his arm; he chose to self-fund the film after funders kept asking which films his script resembled.
- Although Screen Ireland later came aboard All You Need Is Death, many crew members worked for low fees or above their usual grade, and post-production ran on deferred pay, leaving director Paul Duane in significant debt.
- Paul Duane sent his script first to Ian Lynch of the Irish doom folk band Lankum, a stranger to him whom he knew loved horror and held a graduate degree in Irish folklore; Lynch wrote the soundtrack, his first screen score, including the Old Irish ballad at its center.
