Plot summary
Agathe Cléry manages the marketing of a line of cosmetics made for people with pale complexions at a firm that specializes in clear skin, and she is modern and hard working. Her colleagues find her snobbish and strict, and they know that she is racist, particularly toward black people. A doctor diagnoses her with Addison's disease, a disorder that alters and darkens the pigmentation of the skin. One morning she wakes up dark-skinned, resembling the people she has hated, and she has to go on living as a black woman and face the discrimination that comes with her own color.
