Plot summary
At a Turkish holiday resort in 1999, Scottish eleven-year-old Sophie Patterson records the trip on her MiniDV camcorder while spending time with her thirty-year-old father, Calum. Calum moved to London after an amicable separation from Sophie's mother and is about to turn thirty-one. Beneath a cheerful front, he shows signs of depression and inner turmoil. Alone, he practices tai chi, reads self-help books, and hides his smoking from Sophie. Sophie befriends older English teenagers at the resort and plays arcade games with a boy named Michael. Twenty years later, she revisits the footage and tries to understand the man her father really was.
