Plot summary
Joanna Moret has built a career on romance. Her best-selling book, The Love Audit, offers a plan for avoiding lonely holidays, and she presents herself as an expert on morning television. That appearance brings the biggest offer of her career: the chance to throw the MacAllen Holiday Gala, with her own television show waiting if the evening goes well. Her fans and the MacAllen family believe she lives by her own advice. She is newly single and cannot make her principles work in her own love life. To keep from being exposed as a fraud, she asks Ted Domrose, the producer of the morning show, to pretend that the two of them are a couple.
