Plot summary

Fa'amoana is a boy in 1960s New Zealand when the state takes him into its care, and Kohitere Boys Home is where he is held as a ward. The story of that time reaches forward to his son and grandsons and across the Luafutu Aiga. Growing from a long collaboration with Fa'amoana and his family, it sets out to connect with people who lived through state care and to bring the survivor experience into wider view. Dramatized passages stand beside interviews, while aerial and underwater photography shapes how the account is told.
