5 Flights Up (2014) on Netflix

Plot summary

Alex Carver is a painter, and Ruth Carver is a retired schoolteacher. Both have lived in the same Williamsburg, Brooklyn building for decades and have made the neighborhood part of their lives. Because the building has no elevator, the climb to their apartment has become hard, and they decide to move. Their niece, who works as a broker, handles the sale and estimates the apartment could bring as much as a million dollars. Their old dog Dorothy has a ruptured disc, and a veterinarian quotes $10,000 for an operation, a sum the couple has to weigh. A disabled tanker truck sits on a bridge nearby, and the driver is described in news reports as a suspected terrorist. Meanwhile, Ruth and Alex visit other apartments in the city.
