Plot summary
During the Iraq War in 2007, coalition troops from Georgia pull American reporter Thomas Anders out of danger, though his colleague Miriam Eisner does not survive. The following year Thomas leaves Los Angeles for Georgia, acting on warnings from friends in Tbilisi that a larger conflict is coming. With his cameraman Sebastian Ganz he gets to know the country as tensions with Russia build. An air raid strikes a wedding they have come across, and the two join the wedding party in trying to get clear, among them Tatia Meddevi, separated from her family in the attack. Georgian officer Rezo Avaliani, the soldier who saved Thomas in Iraq, is at hand as the fighting spreads.

- Renny Harlin's film about the Russo-Georgian war was made with soldiers and hardware lent by the Georgian army, and part of it was shot inside a building of the Georgian Presidential administration. Some of the special effects crew were Russians who had worked on Night Watch.
- The government of South Ossetia denounced the film, its Minister of Media Georgiy Kabisov calling it "Hitler propaganda" and the people who made it "Nazis", and saying the Georgian people and government were "spiteful aggressors".
