Plot summary
Adam works as an auto mechanic in a small town and marks his twenty-fourth birthday at a bar with Chris, Nick and Ortu, the friends he grew up with. Chris meets a woman there and suggests her friend join Adam, who turns the offer down. The next morning Adam tells the three of them that he is gay. They are uneasy around him at first, and Chris's girlfriend Jess says she had already guessed. Chris recruits Nick and Ortu for a campaign to build Adam's confidence and get him dating, which has yet to produce a boyfriend. Adam also holds off on telling his family, while his mother keeps arranging dates with Dorothy, a girlfriend from high school. A neighbor, Martha, turns hostile after she finds out the truth.
