Plot summary
A man walks out of prison after serving ten years and sets out after the people who murdered his sister. He does not speak, and he works with people he trusts, moving through a single day in which scores are settled. DI Summers catches the case, and the evidence points one way while she reads it another. Her standing in the force is already damaged, and her superior, Superintendent Chalmers, questions every decision she makes. To get anywhere with the investigation she has to put her own history behind her and work out what the killings are really for.
