Plot summary
Mercer, an ex-con, has served his time and now works at a factory, trying to restore his life and the relationship he wants with his son. Around him the city is tense as the verdict in the Rodney King case comes down. In another part of Los Angeles, a father and his son, whose relationship is also strained, plan a robbery at the same plant; the target is catalytic converters that hold valuable platinum. Mercer's workday at the plant and the robbery planned there bring the two families toward each other as the unrest following the verdict spills into the streets and the riots begin.
