Plot summary
A rival kills Tommy's father, a Mafia hitman, and Tommy and his younger brother Vincent move in with their aunt, uncle and cousin Joey in Philadelphia. Tommy is the one member of the family who stays out of crime. He joins the Marines and is sent to the Gulf, then grows disillusioned when Saddam Hussein remains in power. He strikes a military policeman and takes a colonel's Jeep, and is caught when it runs out of gas. Held in the brig, he is offered a way out by FBI agent Horvath: go back to his dockside neighborhood and gather evidence on the family business, and Vincent and Joey will not be arrested. The Philadelphia mob is moving into the heroin trade, and Tommy is to wear a wire for talks between Joey and Mafia boss Luciano Reggio.
