Plot summary

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde have been partners at the Zootopia Police Department for one week, and their different temperaments make the job harder. Chief Bogo tells them he will split the pair unless they settle their differences. A raid on a smuggling operation turns up a piece of snake skin, and snakes have been gone from Zootopia for a hundred years. The Zootennial Gala, the city's centennial party, is thrown by Milton Lynxley, grandson of Ebenezer, who founded Zootopia.

A scene in Zootopia 2 referencing the Silence of the Lambs prison encounter was originally four minutes long and taken verbatim from that film, but was cut down because children were unlikely to understand the reference and it slowed the movie's pacing.
Finnick's dialogue in the sequel reuses unused recordings of actor Tommy Lister Jr. from the original Zootopia. Lister died in 2020, so Disney contacted his family for permission to use the material, and the film is dedicated to his memory in the credits.
