Plot summary
The documentary examines the mechanics of fractional-reserve banking and argues that debt-based monetary policy turns people into economic slaves who must work to repay what they owe. It interviews a former economic hitman who describes helping to subjugate Latin American economies for multinational corporations and the United States government, and who calls the United States a corporatocracy. A futurist then presents The Venus Project and a resource-based economy that would put environmental friendliness, sustainability, and abundance ahead of profit, arguing that capitalism only addresses problems when money can be made. Technology is described as the primary driver of human advancement, while politics is said to be unable to solve problems.
