Plot summary
In 1982, during the war in Lebanon, an Israeli fighter pilot named Yoni is brought down over Beirut and taken prisoner by the PLO. Fahed is a young Palestinian refugee whose father was killed in an Israeli air attack, and the loss has left him angry. He offers to guide Yoni out of the city, on the condition that Yoni takes him across the border to his family's ancestral village, where Fahed wants to plant an olive tree his father had tended in Beirut. Yoni accepts, and the two of them set off along the roads of a country at war, each wary of the other.
