Plot summary

The experiments of Professor Dowell yield a solution that can bring dead body parts back to life, and he shares the results with colleagues. He dies, and his will asks that the solution be used on him. Doctor Kern, the professor's assistant, attaches the head to the solution and keeps it alive, while the body is left in a car that is set alight and thrown off the road outside the city. Arthur, the professor's son, arrives for the funeral and finds in the burned car an object that belongs to Kern. He hands it to the district police officer. The professor's head passes Kern the code for the professor's bank account, and Kern uses the money to clear his debts.
