Plot summary
In North West Australia, highway patrol officers Gary Bulmer and Brian O'Connor, parked on an outback road and hoping to fill a speeding ticket quota, pull Mick Taylor over and order him to get rid of his truck. German travelers Rutger and Katarina journey from Sydney toward Wolf Creek Crater and set up camp near it. That night Mick appears at their campsite and proposes driving them to a caravan park so they avoid national park camping fees. Rutger refuses, and Mick turns violent. English tourist Paul Hammersmith is driving the same outback highway when Mick's pursuit reaches him there.

- Like the 2005 film, the plot is based upon real-life murders of backpackers, one set of killings carried out in the 1990s and another in 2001.
