Widow's Walk (1987) on Netflix

Plot summary

Paul Molinat knows the small seaside resort on the French Atlantic coast from the years he lived there, before his wife disappeared at sea and was never found. He takes the case of a man found on the shore with a bullet in his ear, and the ocean keeps returning more bodies, killed by well-aimed shots to the head. The village looks calm, but Molinat finds old enmities under it, and the list of possible suspects grows longer. Inspector Leroyer joins the inquiry, and the two colleagues argue over what the evidence means. The people around Molinat include three young women in a gray mansion, a real estate agent, and a man the village treats as its idiot.
