Plot summary
The soda counter of a local radio station is where Chick Larkin and Mervyn Milgrim work, but the job they want is writing for a radio mystery program. They attend a broadcast of Murder at Midnight with one of the show's writers and the producer, Jane Little. Colonel J.R. Andrews, the network president, is electrocuted as the program begins. Chick and Mervyn see their way in as radio writers: they pose as detectives and look into the crime, helped by Juliet Collins from the station. Moran and Brannigan, two real detectives, count the pair as prime suspects.

- Who Done It? originated Bud Abbott and Lou Costello's classic "Handcuff Bit" routine, in which William Bendix's detective Brannigan handcuffs himself while showing Costello how to do it; the gag was repeated in the team's 1952 television show and in Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd with Charles Laughton.
- Their film Who Done It? is noteworthy as the first Bud Abbott and Lou Costello feature to contain no musical numbers.
