Plot summary

Ben, a veteran Hollywood producer, is having a bad week. His latest film, Fiercely, has just had a disastrous test screening; the studio executive Lou Tarnow blames its ending and threatens to pull the picture from Cannes and take over the editing unless the killing of a dog is cut. The director, Jeremy Brunell, refuses. A second project depends on an actor who has turned up on set with a thick beard and will not shave it, so his agent, Dick Bell, is sent to talk him round. Ben cannot make a clean break from his second wife, Kelly, and his seventeen-year-old daughter, Zoe, has been crying.
