Plot summary

The dead rise in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, where Marshal Frank Wilcox and a Buffalo Soldier from the U.S. Army try to hold a group of survivors together. It begins as an ordinary day, with the sun up and people going about their business, until the dead rise too. They are joined by an Apache Chief and the outlaw prisoner in the marshal's charge, and the group takes shelter in the Double Peach Saloon, which Rose Ann runs. Preacher Black, a half mad preacher who is also the town's only doctor, helps lead the fight. From the saloon in Crumpit, the group has to learn how to survive in a time when the dead walk.
