Plot summary
Howard Carlton, an industrialist, has chosen a South Pacific island as the site of the new Paradise Carlton hotel. The island carries a reputation for voodoo, and Carlton wants that reputation tested before he puts money into the project. For that job he hires Phillip Knight, a man who has made a career of exposing hoaxes and who is expected to show that the curse amounts to superstition rather than fact. Knight travels out to the island to give him that answer. There he encounters man-eating plants and a tribe with strange powers.
