Beverly Tyler
Biography
Beverly Tyler was an American actress and singer who worked as a leading lady at MGM, mostly in B movies of the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and raised nearby in Dunmore, she was given piano and music lessons as a child and passed screen and voice tests when she was 14. She made her film debut billed as Beverly Jean Saul in The Youngest Profession (1943) and went on to appear in more than 30 pictures, among them Best Foot Forward (1943), The Green Years (1946), The Fireball (1950) and Voodoo Island (1957). On television she played Lorelei Kilbourne in Big Town in 1953 and also appeared on The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza and Hazel. She was the female lead in the 1945 Broadway production The Firebrand of Florence and kept performing on the Reno theater and supper-club circuit until her retirement in 1990.
