Plot summary
A Christmas sketch special is built around a frame story. Its star reaches a community hall to begin rehearsals and finds a television employee and a cameraperson already recording a making-of program for a new digital channel. Cameras have been fitted throughout the building, down to the toilet. The head of the broadcaster's digital channels turns up, and the employee lists the new mini channels. Two co-stars join the rehearsals, and one of them brings an exercise group and a children's choir into the room.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Victoria Wood with All the Trimmings (2000)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Victoria Wood asked Ann Widdecombe, then the Shadow Home Secretary, for permission to parody her in the show's finale musical number, and Widdecombe consented, calling the request "ultra considerate".
- Wood sent her list of favorite performers to the first 14 or so and all of them agreed to appear, leaving her thinking, "Oh, bloody hell, I've got to write it now."
- The special was made straight after Wood finished her sitcom Dinnerladies; she said she was worn out, was ill at one point during the last 10 episodes, and found the Christmas special easier to write because it was in bits.
