Plot summary
In 17th century rural China, a body that will not rest leaves its grave as a zombie and in time becomes a vampire, and a vampire's bite turns the bitten into one of them. Master Mao Shan and his disciples hunt such creatures, and at the disturbed grave of a general they meet a vampire of immense power. Three months on, Shan is still missing, so four disciples, Wind, Thunder, Rain and Lightning, search the night with a vampire-detecting compass. At the Jiang estate, caterers are carrying wedding food inside and a butler takes the four for hired labor. Master Jiang's son dies the morning after his sixth wedding, bitten by a cobra, and Jiang keeps them to hunt the snake. Thunder stays for Sasa, the widow, whose brother Dragon Tang wants the Jiang gold.
