Plot summary
In her first year of medical school, Alison Blanchard studies anatomy at a hospital, where she and her classmates Brian Cross, Carlos Aclar and Rick O'Connor are assigned a cadaver for Professor Walter Blackwell's class. The students nickname the body Norma. Alison is an atheist, yet she senses the spirit of the dead woman trying to communicate with her, and she sets out to learn who the woman was. People who handle the cadaver, or treat it with disrespect, die in circumstances no one can explain, and the deaths reach the students and the hospital staff who work around them.
