Plot summary
Charlie Freemont, a tree whisperer, is sent by the state of Maine to find a tree for the capital's annual lighting ceremony, and she and her assistant Rohan travel to Camden, where an ideal candidate stands on the property of the Beltran family. Alma Beltran and her parents run a century-old Christmas goods business there, and her parents plan to retire at the end of the year; a consultant's report recommending changes to the shop meets Alma's refusal. Charlie meets Alma at a pâtisserie run by Alma's friend Marie, and the two hit it off, but when Charlie and Rohan come to ask about the tree, Alma's parents welcome the plan while Alma will not have it cut down.
