Plot summary
A small village has been hit hard by the crisis and by rural depopulation, and its last hope is the smoked salmon factory, which the residents want to see working again. The insurers, however, require a doctor living on site. The previous doctor retired more than five years ago, and nobody has come to take his place. Germain is the mayor, gruff in manner, and the village stands behind him. Their plan is to make Maxime Meyer, a doctor from Paris, decide to stay. The residents do everything they can to convince him that happiness is to be found in the village rather than in the city he comes from.
