Plot summary
Roman and Lucy live in Apex, a small, frozen town in Nunavut, Canada, near the North Pole, on roads that lead nowhere. They are in love. Lucy tells Roman that a stalker has followed her and that she must leave. Roman answers that dark things in his past keep him from going south again, and he urges Lucy to travel on her own. Roman talks with bears, and a polar bear that speaks about life appears to him several times.
