Plot summary
Lily was a rising ballet dancer when Mark, a rising ballet star, took her under his wing, and they became a couple. Her sister had a tragic accident, and the family expected her to cancel her first star role, so she resigned, went back to her hometown and raised her orphaned niece Sadie as a surrogate mother. Sadie has grown into a gifted dancer, and an audition takes them both to Philadelphia, where The Philadelphia Ballet is staging the Nutcracker and Mark works as choreographer. Lily keeps her dancing past from the other mothers and holds back from reconnecting with Mark.
