Tragedy Girls (2017) on Netflix

Plot summary

McKayla Hooper and Sadie Cunningham are high school seniors in Rosedale, a Midwestern town, where they write a true crime blog, Tragedy Girls. Both are fixated on murder and on fame, and both want more followers. With their friend Craig as bait, they capture Lowell Orson Lehmann, a serial killer, and ask him to help them. He refuses, so the pair hold him captive and plan to commit murders themselves, with Lehmann as their fall guy. Craig vanishes, and the town assumes he ran off. McKayla and Sadie then try to convince Rosedale that a serial killer is at large, which draws the anger of Sheriff Welch, the father of their friend Jordan.
