Plot summary
An accident cost Rey Ciso his fingers and left him with a wooden hand, so the editor who once worked on grand productions now cuts Francesco Mancini's giallo Tarantola with his assistant Bella. At home his wife, the former actress Josephine Jardin, berates him. When Claudio Calvetti, the star of the picture, is killed at the studio during a private screening with his girlfriend Veronica, the actress Margarit Porfiry finds the body and goes blind from hysteria. Her husband, Inspector Peter Porfiry, works the case with the officer Giancarlo while Police Chief O'Connor, Margarit's father, pushes for a quick close. The killer cut off the victim's fingers, and because Rey's own hand carries that injury, the inspector turns his attention to him.
