Plot summary
Matt, an app developer in his forties, wants to become a father without getting married. He interviews Anna, a young coffee shop employee who needs money for her bachelor's and master's degrees, and she signs on as his surrogate. At a first-trimester appointment the doctor says the pregnancy is progressing well, and Matt takes Anna to dinner to celebrate. He shares the news with his brother and parents, and his mother is unhappy about it. Matt and Anna attend therapy sessions together, where he is eager to tell everyone and she intends to tell no one. Matt brings her pregnancy tea and clogs; she takes the tea and leaves the clogs.
