Plot summary
Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian explorer, wants an airship to carry him to the North Pole and gets in touch with Umberto Nobile, an Italian airship engineer living quietly in Rome with his terrier, Titina, a dog he once took in from the city's streets. The idea appeals to Nobile, who sees a chance to be remembered. He brings the dog along and the two men set out for the Arctic aboard the airship Norge. Their story comes from the 1926 flight over the pole, and the film tells it from Titina's point of view, mixing in documentary material and stills from the 1920s.
