Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The international premiere of Just Super at the 73rd Berlin Film Festival, set for 20 February 2023, was cancelled minutes before it was due after the Anti-Racism Taskforce for European Film raised concerns about blackface and the animalisation of Black people; the four later festival screenings went ahead with a disclaimer posted.
- A 9 March letter from the Norwegian Film Institute, shared with the Berlinale and 24 European film industry bodies, said that after "numerous meetings" the festival asked the producer and the NFI to consider withdrawing Just Super; they declined and "reluctantly" agreed to the premiere's cancellation.
- On 17 April 2023, the network Schwarze Filmschaffende condemned the Berlinale's selection of Just Super alongside Measures of Men and Seneca – On the Creation of Earthquakes, saying they promote "anti-Black racist images, tropes, stereotypes and discriminatory narrative forms" and that the festival may have violated laws by failing to protect children and employees.
