Trailer
Plot summary
Dr. Thomas Vrain is a celebrated cardiac surgeon who has put his support behind Dr. Aldo Gehring, the offbeat scientist inventing an artificial heart. Carol Severance is a patient in Vrain's care whose time is running out; she will die unless an experimental operation is done quickly and succeeds. Vrain wants to give her the first artificial heart implanted in a human being, a step no one has taken before. The hospital's Ethics Committee has advised against the surgery. Vrain and Gehring weigh the risks and the odds as Carol Severance's time runs short, and Vrain decides to go ahead.
