Plot summary
Pasupathy is out of work and about to lose the house he shares with his younger sister Kavitha and the house maid Senthamarai, so his uncle, a lawyer who has looked after them since their parents died, applies for a marketing post at a friend's mineral water company. The owner, Sivagurunathan, dislikes recommendations and worships Murugan, so Pasupathy arrives dressed as a Gandhian, claims to follow the principles in Sivagurunathan's own book, and is hired. He tells his boss his mother has been injured and skips work for a cricket match, where Sivagurunathan films him. Facing dismissal, Pasupathy claims the man in the video was his identical twin, the karate master Ganguly Kandhan.

- Before the film's release, Visu, who wrote the original Thillu Mullu, sued Vendhar Movies to block the remake, claiming it reused his screenplay and dialogues without permission; the court dismissed the case and let the film open on 14 June.
- After the shoot wrapped, director Badri decided to film a music video for the remixed "Thillu Mullu" song and persuaded M. S. Viswanathan, the composer of the original film, to appear in it alongside Yuvan Shankar Raja.
- Isha Talwar was cast in Madhavi's role from the original, the part that became her Tamil debut, and being a non-Tamil speaker she tried to learn the language for the role.
