Trailer

Plot summary

Olivia Dejazet, a novelist known in Paris, comes to La Ciotat in the South of France to run a writing workshop. The young people in her group are to produce a noir novel, and the writing work returns them to the city's working-class past, its shipyard having closed twenty-five years earlier. Olivia is drawn to Antoine, a taciturn and not very sociable member of the group. The writing proposals he brings in strike the others as shocking, and he becomes the outsider among them. The nostalgia for the shipyard leaves him unmoved; what presses on him instead is the anxiety of the present.
