Plot summary
Jacques-Yves Cousteau spends more than forty years taking cameras and gear of his own invention below the surface of the ocean, and the films that come out of those years make him a celebrity. The documentary gathers restored archive material from those decades to trace his working life, the voyages he made and the standing he gained. Where he first went looking for the unknown, he comes to argue for the sea itself, warning about warming water and the fragility of the planet while a growing audience follows him. He keeps making that case for years, and people who grew up watching him carry it onward.
