The Whiskey Bandit (2017) on Netflix

Plot summary

Attila grows up in a broken home in Ceausescu's Romania, spends time in a youth prison and crosses the border into Hungary looking for a better future. He becomes a goalkeeper for one of the city's hockey teams, but he has no money and no girlfriend. Hungary in the post-socialist years tells him that money is what makes a person matter, so he turns to robbing post offices, banks and travel agencies. He works fast and meticulously, moving from one job to the next, and the only clue he leaves at the scenes is the smell of whiskey, which is how the press comes up with the name the Whiskey Bandit. Nothing he steals is enough for him and his new love, Kata. Investigator Bartos László works the case as the public follows each robbery.
