Plot summary
Orlando, a composer, lives with his wife and their young daughter in 1984. He accidentally kills his neighbor, and the investigation that follows makes his life more and more complicated. In 2063 Medrocorp, a research and development company, expands its influence and watches people, using cloned organs, robots, drones and flying cars. Robert Kovats, who leads the Development Department, wants to be rid of Medrocorp, so he builds Lia, an adult-form robot modeled on the six-year-old daughter he lost to cancer, and plans to load compromising data about the company into it. A soldier called 129 escapes from the company's building, remembers nothing of his past, and wants to find out about it. He speaks with Orlando in his dreams.
