Made in Hungaria (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

Miklós Fenyő's parents bring him back to Communist Hungary in the mid-1960s, when most people are leaving for the West. Miki arrives from America with a Hawaiian shirt, a perfect quiff, an American accent and a trunkful of rock records, set on becoming the next Jerry Lee Lewis. His old friends do not know what to make of his clothes or his music. His childhood sweetheart, Vera, keeps her distance, and Röné, the local tough guy, treats him as a rival for the rock 'n' roll crown. The family's minder, Comrade Bigali, has other plans: Miki is to perform a nationalistic folk song at the school talent show alongside Bigali's son, and the authorities have seen what his music does to teenage girls.
