Plot summary
Hilda Sterczer is the widow of Zsolt Erőss, a mountaineer known internationally. While he takes part in the Kancsendzönga expedition, she watches from thousands of miles away as exhaustion overtakes him and he dies on the way down from the summit. She remains with their two children, Erőss Gerda and Erőss Csoma. All his life she had stood behind his climbing. His death makes her the heir of his name, and she copes with what the public expects of her and with what the media throws at her, holding to the stance her husband kept. That stance is what holds back her mourning.
