Hollywood actor Nick Cage is passed over for the roles he wants and is short of money, pestered by Nicky, a younger and more successful version of himself who appears to him. His bond with his ex-wife Olivia and their daughter Addy has suffered from years of neglect. His agent Richard Fink brings him an offer of one million dollars to be guest of honor at the birthday of Javi Gutiérrez, a billionaire superfan in Mallorca. Javi, needy and insistent that the two improvise a movie from a script he wrote, wins Nick over with his determination.
