The Trotsky (2009) on Netflix

Plot summary

Leon Bronstein is a Montreal high school student who holds that he is the reincarnation of the revolutionary Lev Trotskiy, and he looks for signs that his life follows the same path. He stages a hunger strike to unionize the clothing factory run by his father, David Bronstein, who answers by pulling him out of private school and sending him to a public one for his senior year. The school is governed by Principal Henry Berkhoff and Vice-Principal Davis, who hand out detentions for small offenses. Leon joins the students kept after class and urges them to form a union and push back against the rules. He also pursues Alexandra Leith, a twenty-seven-year-old law student whose profile matches a woman from Trotskiy's life.
