Plot summary
In 1924, the British mountaineers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine set off for the top of Everest and went missing. Seventy years later, Makoto Fukamachi, a young Japanese reporter, meets a mysterious climber named Habu Joji and thinks he sees Mallory's camera in Habu's hands. The camera might show whether Mallory and his companion were the first to reach the top. Fukamachi learns that Habu tends to climb alone, and he travels to Nepal in search of him.
