Plot summary
Maya Lucas is a patient at Venus County Hospital after an encounter with three masked perpetrators. The sheriff and his deputy dismiss her account and keep state and federal officers away, fearing their own cover-ups will surface. Maya is still there when night falls, and the perpetrators, learning she is alive, hunt her through the building. She gets out and reaches a horse farm, where Pin-Up Girl kills the owner with a crossbow. Maya fights her off with a pitchfork.

- After The Strangers: Chapter 1 was released, its two sequels, including Chapter 2, were reworked with a month of additional photography to take the first film's audience feedback into account. One week of those reshoots went to Chapter 2, adding flashbacks to flesh out the villain's backstory and cutting an investigation subplot involving Joplin Sibtain.
