Plot summary
After Kong's rampage through Manhattan, filmmaker Carl Denham faces lawsuits and an indictment, and hides from his debtors. Capt. Englehorn, who expects prosecution if he stays, takes the Venture to sea as a cargo ship, with Charlie the cook aboard. In the Dutch East Indies port of Dakang, the men watch a monkey show and hear Hilda sing, billed as La Belle Helene. Her father drinks with a Norwegian skipper, Nils Helstrom, and the night ends with her father dead and the show tent burned. Helstrom is the man who once sold Denham the map to Skull Island, and he says a treasure lies there. With the crew angry over unpaid wages, Denham and Englehorn agree to sail.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about The Son of Kong (1933)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Planned scenes of tribal warfare and a climactic dinosaur stampede during the cyclone and earthquake that sinks Skull Island were never filmed because of the film's tight budget and shooting schedule; the stampede was to reuse models built for Creation (1931).
- Script writer Ruth Rose deliberately made no attempt to make a serious film, reasoning that it could not surpass the first, and summed up her approach with the line: "If you can't make it bigger, make it funnier."
- Effects artists reused stop-motion models from King Kong for the sequel, including the non-animated "long face" Kong armature from the log bridge and Tyrannosaurus fight sequences, which was then used for the smaller "Little Kong".
