Plot summary
A plane carrying a young couple and their infant goes down in the jungle on a flight to Cape Town. Everyone aboard is killed except the baby. Cheeta, Tarzan's chimpanzee, finds the child, and Tarzan and Jane take him in and call him Boy, raising him in the jungle as their own son. Because Tarzan and Jane are unmarried in the series, the baby was written in as a device to satisfy morality groups, and the film's title was changed from Tarzan in Exile to Tarzan Finds a Son.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Tarzan Finds a Son! (1939)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Maureen O'Sullivan had tired of playing Jane, and this film was to be her exit: her character was to die of a spear wound, until preview audiences reacted so badly that the ending was changed.
- The film was first called Tarzan in Exile, but it was retitled Tarzan Finds a Son and given a baby to appease morality groups, because Tarzan and Jane were not married in the films.
- MGM let the Tarzan film rights lapse after Tarzan Escapes, and independent producer Sol Lesser made five Tarzan films; the first, Tarzan's Revenge, flopped because audiences would not accept Glenn Morris in the role made famous by Johnny Weissmuller.
- Johnny Sheffield, who played Boy, claims that Weissmuller handpicked him for the part and taught him to swim.
